Pierre Marmignon, founder and President of NestSentinel, was recently invited by Frédéric Serrière to take part in Le Grand Entretien, a program dedicated to the leaders and decision-makers shaping the senior market and the Silver Economy.
During this in-depth conversation, Pierre shared the story behind NestSentinel, the vision that led to the development of RoomGuardian, and the company’s approach to preventing risk situations without compromising residents’ privacy.

Rethinking how we protect older adults
At the heart of the discussion was a question that has guided NestSentinel since the beginning:
How can we watch over older and vulnerable people without making them feel watched?
Current solutions often rely on devices that must be worn, activated or kept within reach, while other technologies may introduce cameras into highly private living spaces.
NestSentinel is developing a different approach with RoomGuardian, a multi-sensor system designed to contribute to the detection of situations such as falls, distress, prolonged immobility and other critical events.
The solution is designed without conventional video cameras or wearable devices, with local processing of the information required for detection. NestSentinel’s current pilot documentation also explicitly describes RoomGuardian as a pre-production solution intended to be evaluated in real-world conditions.
Moving from alerts toward prevention
The interview also provided an opportunity to discuss a broader ambition behind RoomGuardian: moving beyond systems that simply react after an incident.
By combining several complementary sensing technologies and analyzing situations locally, NestSentinel aims to provide care teams with more contextual information about what is happening in a resident’s room.
This approach is intended to help identify not only confirmed incidents, but also situations that may warrant attention earlier — while reducing unnecessary intrusion into residents’ daily lives.
The first real-world pilots of RoomGuardian are planned for early 2027 as part of NestSentinel’s Pioneer Facility Program.
A conversation about technology, care and trust
Hosted by Frédéric Serrière, a specialist in the senior market and Silver Economy for more than 25 years, Le Grand Entretien gives business leaders and industry professionals the opportunity to discuss the transformations shaping the sector.
For NestSentinel, the conversation was therefore also an opportunity to address one of the central challenges facing prevention technologies:
A technology can only be useful in a care environment if residents, families and care teams can trust it.
That trust depends not only on detection capabilities, but also on privacy, ease of use, the relevance of alerts and the ability to integrate naturally into existing care practices.
These dimensions are also reflected in the criteria NestSentinel plans to evaluate during its Pioneer Facility pilots, including alert relevance, the absence of wearable constraints, family reassurance, privacy and team adoption.
